Safe Food Handling (Level 1)

Overview

This unit provides the foundational skills and knowledge required to apply safe food handling practices in hospitality and food service environments. It focuses on personal hygiene, preventing contamination, and following organisational food safety procedures to ensure food is safe to consume.

This unit is a pre-requisite for many other food handling and preparation units in the hospitality training package.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Follow personal hygiene procedures to reduce contamination risks
  • Identify and control food safety hazards
  • Prevent cross-contamination during food handling
  • Maintain cleanliness of food preparation areas and equipment
  • Understand and apply relevant food safety legislation and standards

Duration: 6 hours

Entry Requirements

  • Students are required to provide photo ID on the day of training
  • Students must complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy quiz prior to enrolment
