Apprenticeships & Traineeships

Learn, Earn and Get Qualified

Apprenticeships and traineeships combine paid employment with formal training, allowing you to gain practical workplace experience while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.

Whether you're starting your career, changing careers, or looking to grow your workforce, apprenticeships and traineeships provide a practical pathway to developing skills and qualifications.

What's the Difference?

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are typically focused on skilled trades and occupations that require extensive hands-on training. They combine paid employment with structured training and are usually completed over three to four years.

Traineeships

Traineeships are generally focused on vocational occupations and industries outside the traditional trades. They combine paid employment with formal training and are typically completed within one to two years, depending on the qualification and industry.

School-Based Apprenticeships & Traineeships

School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs) allow students to start an apprenticeship or traineeship while completing their HSC. Students combine paid work, formal training and school studies while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.
