Overview

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to safely and effectively use a range of hand and power tools in the resources and infrastructure industries. It applies to individuals working in operational roles across construction, mining, civil works, and maintenance sectors.

The unit focuses on tool selection, inspection, operation, and maintenance, while ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety (WHS) procedures.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Identify and select appropriate tools for specific tasks
  • Conduct pre-operational checks and ensure tools are safe to use
  • Operate tools according to manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines
  • Maintain and store tools correctly
  • Identify and report faults or hazards
  • Apply WHS procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE)

Duration: 2 days

Entry Requirements

  • Students are required to provide ID on the day of training
  • Students must complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy quiz prior to enrolment.
