    Overview

    This course provides you with the skills and knowledge to be able to provide a first aid response to infants and children in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.

    This course applies to a range of workers within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthma and anaphylactic emergencies. This includes early childhood workers and educators who work with school age children in outside school hours care and vacation programs.

    By the end of the course, you will be able to:
  • Follow a DRSABCD action plan
  • Provide CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • Manage asthma and anaphylaxis
  • Treat wounds, bleeding, burns, and fractures
  • Respond to medical emergencies (e.g. seizures, choking, shock)
  • Understand legal responsibilities and infection control
  • Communicate and report emergencies

  • Certification: You will receive a Statement of Attainment upon successful completion of this course.
