Certificate II in Agriculture

Summary

This qualification provides a general vocational outcome in agriculture. The qualification enables individuals to select a livestock production, cropping or livestock context as a job focus or, in the case of mixed farming enterprises, both cropping and livestock.

Individuals with this qualification carry out routine tasks under general supervision and exercise limited autonomy with some accountability for their own work.

Possible job titles include:

• Assistant animal attendant/stockperson
• Assistant farm or station hand
• Assistant farm or station worker
• Assistant farm or station labourer

On completion of this course, you can continue your journey in agriculture by progressing through higher qualifications. Some of the qualifications available include:

Course structure

Packaging rules:
18 units must be completed:

• 3 core units plus
• 15 elective units.

Elective units must ensure the integrity of the qualification’s Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

The electives are to be chosen as follows:

• 7 units from Group A
• 5 units from the remaining units in Group A, or from Group B
• Up to 3 may be selected from the remaining units listed in this qualification or from any currently endorsed Training Package or Accredited Course.

New traineeships commencing from 1 January 2020 are fully subsidised by the NSW Government under Smart and Skilled.

For traineeships commenced prior to 1 January 2020, student fees are capped at $1,000 with the remaining qualification price subsidised under NSW Smart and Skilled.
